Curved access door for maintenance of circular ducts diameter 400 mm to 500 mm. Made out of galvanised steel with cellular sponge gasket. In order to install the curved access doors, you must first apply a self-adhesive template on a duct (a template is provided with each door). Second, the aperture has to be cut out (there is a tolerance of 3mm). Third, the doors are installed by unscrewing the hand knobs until the thread is levelled up with the top of the bolt. Using both hands, place the door in the hole at an angle, turn it straight and pull it out slightly to align. Then tighten the knobs.

Overview:
Ventilation access doors are sometimes called inspection hatches, their purpose is, as the name suggests, to provide access to the ventilation system for inspection, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Unfortunately, access doors are sometimes seen as a secondary or even an unimportant component, since the ventilation system can technically function without them. However, this is not the case, as inspection hatches are a prerequisite for the long-term and trouble-free operation of the ventilation system. All HVAC systems require periodic inspections, tests, cleaning, and occasional repairs, all of which are made easier by having good access. Inspection hatches are, without a doubt, a necessary component in any well-designed ventilation system, and should not be omitted.

Application:
Access doors should be installed in key places along the duct runs to allow for the visual inspection of components, the periodic cleaning of the ducts, and when necessary, the maintenance and repair of equipment. When a failure occurs in the ventilation system, which is virtually guaranteed if the system is not maintained, not having inspection hatches will complicate and delay any repair work tremendously. Most of the potential problems that can cause ductwork damage and failure can be avoided with proper preventive maintenance, and having inspection hatches will make this process easier to perform.
Access doors are a requirement to maintain a clean and efficient ventilation system that operates as intended for many years. Without access doors, one can expect that the efficiency of the HVAC system will diminish, and the air quality will degrade over time. This degraded performance is caused by dust and debris as they accumulate in the ducts. The absence of inspection hatches also creates a favourable environment for bacteria and mould to grow inside the ductwork. In some cases, even small animals and the waste they generate may end up in the ventilation system. The presence of animal waste, mould, and bacteria can cause more than just unpleasant odours and discomfort - it can potentially cause illnesses in the residents of the building, this phenomenon is referred to as Sick Building Syndrome or SBS. Without proper access doors, it is as good as impossible to thoroughly clean the ventilation ductwork and maintain good indoor air quality.

Construction and installation method:
The product consists of two galvanised steel plates and a sponge gasket between them. The two plates are held together with threaded rods and knobs, which are used to fasten the plates during installation. The inner plate should be inserted into a correctly sized hole made in the duct. To make the cutting process easier, a self-adhesive cutting template is provided with each inspection hatch. When cutting the hole the permissible tolerances are within 3 mm of the template. Once the hole is cut, the knobs can be loosened, and the door can be inserted at an angle, then fastened in place by tightening the knobs. The foam seal ensures good air tightness, so this access door does not compromise airflow or introduce air leakage. It is highly recommended to choose access doors made of the same material and with the same thickness as the ducts, they will be mounted on.
