Overview
High-performance swirl diffuser from the Belgian manufacturer Grada. The WS400 is designed for installation in suspended ceilings. Optimised for supply ventilation in a variable air volume (VAV) HVAC system, but can also function in an exhaust ventilation role. When used for supply ventilation the diffuser can take advantage of the Coandă effect to improve ventilation performance and allow fresh air to reach further, even when the air volume is low. The swirl pattern allows for the rapid mixing of the incoming air and ambient air. An optional damper can be added to the intake of the plenum box to control the volume of air.
Application
Diffusers in suspended ceilings are ubiquitous in offices, shopping centres, conference rooms and other commercial and public spaces. Because of the specific role and application of ceiling diffusers, the same model of diffuser is often used for both supply and exhaust ventilation. The Grada WS400 can work for both supply and exhaust ventilation and is well suited for most applications thanks to its excellent acoustic properties and unrestricted airflow. Even when large volumes of air pass through the WS400, it maintains a low noise rating (NR), making it a perfect choice for offices.
Choosing the correct size of the diffuser and the number of diffusers required for each room can be determined by the dimensions of the space and the specific ventilation requirements.
Construction and mounting
The Grada WS400 swirl diffuser is entirely constructed from durable, galvanised sheet steel with a powder coating finish. The standard colour is RAL9010 white, but other colour options are also available from the manufacturer.
The WS400 is equipped with a plenum box with either a top or side connection, and an optional perforated air flow control plate for volume adjustment.
The spigot of the plenum features a double lip rubber seal, which helps the unit achieve an airtightness class D according to EN 12237. The standard mounting option is 7 mm mounting holes located on the plenum box.
Please note that the final airtightness of the ventilation system depends on multiple factors, including the installation method.
