Silent mixed flow inline duct fan for use with standard round or Spiro ducts. Reliable operation and long service life of at least 40 000 hours. The so-called “mixed flow” fan design aims to combine the advantages of centrifugal fans and axial fans. This fan features a highly sophisticated conical impeller with specially profiled blades and an advanced casing design. The impeller works together with vanes inside the casing to direct airflow in the most optimal manner. This allows the fan to achieve high static pressure and move large volumes of air silently. To further improve the acoustic qualities the internal casing is perforated and features a 50 mm layer of mineral wool. The casing is designed in such a way, that it directs sound waves at specific angles towards the insulation layer. This way sound attenuation in a wide frequency spectrum can be achieved. The mineral wool layer and the airtight terminal box also help improve thermal efficiency.  

Modern HVAC systems use many different fan designs that each have their advantages and disadvantages, making them best suited for a specific purpose. As their name suggests, inline fans are mounted in line with the ductwork, instead of at the beginning or end of a ventilation run. This makes them suited for applications where the fan cannot be visible, or a more powerful fan is required. Noise-optimised mixed-flow fans are specifically designed for use in buildings with strict noise level requirements such as libraries, conference halls, educational institutions, kindergartens etc. They are very flexible when it comes to mounting options, as they can be installed at any point along the ventilation system, at any angle. If higher static pressure is required more than one fan can be installed in series. If a higher volume of air is required more than one fan can be mounted in parallel. 

Construction and installation:
The fan features a polymer-coated steel casing with male-male spigots on either end. The perforated inner casing and the impeller are made out of durable plastic. The fan comes bundled with mounting brackets. Power is connected via standard screw terminals located in an airtight terminal box. The electric motor supports two different speeds, and can also be controlled via an external fan speed controller. A straight section of ventilation duct with a length at least 3 times the duct diameter should be provided on the intake side. On the exhaust side the straight section of duct should be at least equal to the diameter of the duct. When installed in a vertical orientation a hood should be placed above the fan. Note that as this device creates vibrations during operation, it is important to periodically inspect the fan mounts, to make sure the device is still securely mounted. The impeller blades will require periodic cleaning and should be cleaned twice a year. The fan is not designed to handle smoke or other combustion products, corrosive chemicals and fuels, or other impurities that might stick to the impeller and casing.
