Pylontech US5000 is a modern LiFePO4 battery with a capacity of 4.8 kWh. It is ideal for large homes and businesses thanks to its compatibility with standard 19” server racks, and scalability up to 16 battery modules. Thanks to the advanced LiFePO4 cell chemistry, the battery does not require maintenance and has a much longer life compared to traditional Lead-acid batteries – over 15 years and 8000 cycles. The battery is an ideal upgrade for new and existing photovoltaic installations, but it can also be used in combination with a hybrid inverter only, in locations with unreliable electrical supply.

Overview
The US5000 is a high-performance energy storage battery manufactured by the Chinese company Pylon Technologies (Pylontech). Pylontech is the world’s largest supplier of energy storage solutions for households.

The battery features an integrated BMS (Battery Management System) with multiple safety features and communication options. The device can communicate with other batteries/charge controllers via CAN and RS485, and it supports connecting up to 16 battery modules in parallel.
When paired with a Victron hybrid inverter, the status of the battery and all other relevant information can be viewed and logged via the VRM (Victron Remote Management) online portal.
The US5000 battery module combines safety, high capacity and a rich feature set, all in a compact rack-mounted chassis designed to fit 19” cabinets.
A LiFePO4 battery offers many benefits regardless of whether or not the business/home has a photovoltaic installation. It can both save money and provide reliable backup power during power outages.

The US5000 optimises consumption and reduces energy costs
In most households and many businesses, the peak power production of a photovoltaic system may not always coincide with peak consumption. When added to an existing PV system, the Pylontech US5000 battery module works as energy storage for the excess/unused electricity generated during the day. The energy stored in the battery is available to supplement or completely meet the electricity demand at night or when the power from the solar panels is insufficient.
Another use case for the battery is variable electricity rates. Depending on the variability of prices during the day, the battery can charge when electricity is cheaper and discharge during the hours when it is more expensive. The US5000 can also save money by smoothing out momentary spikes in consumption that might be penalised by the grid provider.

Reliable, long term power
Thanks to the LiFePO4 battery chemistry, the US5000 battery module is expected to last more than 15 years and 8000 charge cycles and has a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
If frequent blackouts occur on the premises, the battery can supply power until the regular electrical supply returns. In other words, the US5000 can act as a large-capacity UPS. LiFePO4 batteries have a near-instant response, unlike standard gasoline/diesel generators, so there will be no data loss or costly interruptions to your company's workflow/manufacturing processes.

Pylontech US5000 compatibility with Victron systems
To use the energy stored in the US5000 battery you’ll need a hybrid inverter, or an inverter with battery charging functionality such as the MultiPlus-II/Quattro series and a solar charge controller such as the Victron SmartSolar MMPT if you have a photovoltaic system.
It is highly recommended to use a GX series device for communication, either built into the inverter, or a separate unit such as the Cerbo-S GX/Cerbo GX. The GX device needs to be running Venus OS version 2.20 or newer.
The battery connects via a Victron VE.Can to CAN-bus BMS type A Cable, part number ASS030710018. When using more than one battery it’s not necessary to manually configure the address jumpers on the front panel.

Please note that the battery requires several charge/discharge cycles before it reaches its design capacity.
